Can I really fix my credit

Of course you can! Many of our readers, and even yours truly has cleared up a few blemishes on their reports. And by the way: everything a credit repair clinic can do for you, you can do for yourself at little or no cost. What the information provided in this page does is help you fix ERRORS on your credit report and clean up those "questionable" items. While no one can legally remove accurate negative information from a credit report, the law does allow you to request a reinvestigation of information in your file that you dispute as inaccurate or incomplete. On the otherhand, *nudge* *nudge*, *wink* *wink*, it is perfectly legal to challenge ANYTHING on your credit report. There is no charge for requesting an investigation. The whole key to the credit repair procedure is that if the credit bureaus cannot verify information on your credit report they must remove it. For instance, if a credit bureau cannot contact a collection agency which is reporting a collection on your report, they cannot verify the information, and the credit bureau must delete the entry. Let's meet Edouardo.

Credit Infocenter

We think you will enjoy our frank and humorous style as we explore the subject of credit, making the subject matter easy to remember and use. Its content is for everyone, not just the credit-challenged. Our book has helped hundreds of people repair their credit, get in shape for a mortgage or auto loan, or get out of debt, often paying less than what they owe. Credit repair companies charge hundreds of dollars for the same information. We give it to you for $19.95.

Repair Your Credit by Suing Credit Bureaus and Creditors For $1,000s!

The secret profitable weapon to use in repairing your credit. Consumers are being hurt right and left by the carelessness of Creditors, Credit Bureaus and unethical practices of Collection Agencies. By pointing out these violations, you can make them back down and remove negative entries. Fight back! The law specifically allows you can take these losers to court and win money! Wouldn't you like to use the money you win from your creditors to pay off your debts?! One man won $9,000 from debt collectors using our eBook. Another just won $1,500. Another won a little over $5000. Look at the case that the Federal Trade Commission used against the collection agency CAMCO. Many of the violations we list here were cited!

How long do negative items stay on my credit report

Accurate negative information generally can be reported for seven years, but there are exceptions: Bankruptcy information can be reported for 10 years; Information reported because of an application for a job with a salary of more than $20,000 has no time limitation; Information reported because of an application for more than $50,000 worth of credit or life insurance has no time limitation; Information concerning a lawsuit or a judgment against you can be reported for seven years or until the statute of limitations runs out, whichever is longer; and Default information concerning U.S. Government insured or guaranteed student loans can be reported for seven years after certain guarantor actions. Tax liens stay on 7 years from the date PAID.

What to do if a credit bureau refuses to investigate

This particularly happens during the dispute of inquiries, which some credit bureaus tell you they cannot investigate. That is pure nonsense. Unfortunately, this also happens when they designate a dispute as "frivolous".

Debt Validation: The ultimate weapon against the collection agencies

You could try to use debt settlement methods with a collection agency, but you might want to try debt validation first. Why? Because they may not even be legally entitled to collect the debt from you.

How to Erase Credit Inquiries

Every time you apply for credit and the credit grantor checks your credit report, a credit inquiry is placed on your file. Even if you receive a credit offer in the mail and you respond, your credit will almost certainly be checked and a credit inquiry will be added to your credit report.

What to do if the credit bureau is slow to respond after a request to remove inaccurate information...

Follow the format in Sample Letter 1 and send it in. Send it Certified or Registered, Return-Receipt Requested. Be sure to keep a copy of the letter for your records, as well as the return receipt, when you receive it.

It's important to handle all of your correspondence with creditors and credit reporting agencies via registered or certified mail!

I can't tell you how many times people have written to me and told me that they can't understand why a deal negotiated over the phone with a creditor or a credit reporting agency didn't happen, was lost or forgotten by the person or company making the deal

Warnings About Hiring Credit Repair Agencies

You see the advertisements in newspapers, on TV, and on the Internet. You hear them on the radio. You get fliers in the mail. You may even get calls from telemarketers offering credit repair services. They all make the same claims: "Credit problems? No problem!" "We can erase your bad credit -- 100% guaranteed." "Create a new credit identity -- legally." "We can remove bankruptcies, judgments, liens, and bad loans from your credit file forever!"
